Ethics and Work Policy and Payment Requirement
Basically what I do when I build projects for people is discount my pricing to about $50 - $75 per hour which I retain rights to the products you end up with.
I justify this by stating that I reserve the right to sell your products to other customers without your express consent. I’m not legally obligated to tell you who I sell your code to and you can’t ask.
Many of the products I develop with other people I retain a copy for myself in order to market it to expand my income. I often take commercial products and make them available freely or for profit once I rename them. I do this so I don’t cause you undue harm by renaming my products leaving yours in tact.
Encryption: Most of my products are encrypted for my protection. Many people have argued with me that since they pay for the product they should also have the source but facts are facts. If your product has extreme value I would likely retain the rights in order to maximize my profits.
In the even you receive a product from me that you pay for and then take it upon yourself to decrypt the product I would consider that theft.
Also, since most of the projects you hire me for belong ultimately to me, I let you know up front that you can’t pursue legal action against me for loss either financial or reputation related in part because my license is not a release of intellectual results.
Payment: Payment is required up front on most projects only because I live in Romania and you do not. I have started projects which were later canceled leaving me without payment.
If you hire me and I quote you a price and you do not like the work you are still obligated to pay me. I will fix my code within reason but by no means will canceling a project warrant you not to pay me or entitle you to a refund.
I do work with other developers and designers and if your ( their ) customer cancels a project on them, they still owe me my money. I am not responsible for your likes or dislikes regarding my products I produce for you, you agree to pay me for my services not my methods.
Because of Western Union rules I can’t have you say you are paying me for professional services, therefore please send money as just a normal money transfer with now clear description for reason.
